    • She was the daughter of Frank and Rose (Anholt) Russek. Her father was a furrier, who with his brother opened Russeks Furs on 14th Street in Manhattan. The fur store expanded and moved in 1913 to Fifth Avenue

      When she was 17, she married David Nemerov, a window-dresser in her father's store. He became merchandising director, the president and chairman of Russeks, which closed in 1959.
